International Women’s Day, on the 8th March, is an opportunity to celebrate all the incredible, inspirational women in the world. It is also an important day to reflect on how far we still have to go to achieve gender equality. From access to education and labour markets, to regressive sexual health laws, to the prevalence of gender based violence and female genital mutilation we have an uphill battle to make this generation equality.

Hawa, 23, is from Iringa, a town in central Tanzania. She teaches extra curricular classes at Mikocheni Secondary School. Her classes include topics such as goal setting, volunteering, increasing your confidence, CV writing, interview skills and problem solving techniques. Her class is so popular that it’s increased from 50 to 80 students in just two months. This is her story.
Milicent is one of 8,636 in and out of school girls who have so far been engaged and supported to excel by brilliant volunteers working on this project. This is her story.
